The Introduction to Cleanroom Technology course, provided by the Contamination Control Network (CCN), is designed to give participants a solid foundation in the principles and practices of cleanroom technology including design, testing and operation.
Created and maintained by the CTCB-I (Cleanroom Testing and Certification Board-International) and based on the internationally respected textbook Basic Cleanroom Technology by Bill Whyte, the course combines scientific principles with practical applications to help learners understand how contamination is controlled in cleanroom environments.
Participants will gain an understanding of the role of cleanrooms in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, healthcare, microelectronics, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing. The course explains the sources and behaviour of contaminants, the design and operation of cleanrooms, and the procedures required to test, monitor and maintain controlled environments that consistently meet quality and regulatory requirements.
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

The primary reference for the course is Basic Cleanroom Technology by William (Bill) Whyte. Participants are provided with the book (UK courses only) or self-buy in other countries from Amazon. This is a valuable resource after the course day but can also be used to help with the multi-choice test questions.
The course is mostly delivered online through instructor-led sessions and includes presentations, examples, discussion, and a multi-choice test with 20 questions and lasts 3-4 hours. Participants receive a certificate of completion from the Contamination Control Network (CCN). This can also be delivered in-person at your facility, please ask the CCN about this and we will provide a quotation.
